Winter Wonderland | Blogmas Day 2

18:29

So last Sunday, two of my friends and I went to London for the day, including a little explore in Covent Garden and a few hours in Winter Wonderland. Firstly, I would not recommend going to Winter Wonderland on a weekend, because my goodness was it crowded - not ideal for exploring the huge park.

This lovely day started with an hour train journey followed by a little bit of lunch at Leon (I had a Vegan Christmas Wrap because I am wild) in London Liverpool Street station, as well as a few tube stops. We stopped off at Covent Garden and had a little photoshoot with the gorgeous festive lights and decorations, as well as trying some tea at Whittard (it totally smelt better than it tasted).

I absolutely adore the streets of London, with their buildings covered in little festive lights, I love the city at this time of year. Lights make everything look so much nicer! Some of the London architecture really reminds me of Paris for some reason!

After spending a little bit of time in Covent Garden (we didn’t go to many shops), we then headed to back to the tube to stop off at Oxford Street - where it was fake-snowing! The huge department stores (John Lewis and Selfridges) looked incredible with their gorgeous festive shop window displays, and everywhere you looked you could see a little hint to Christmas which just made everyone happy!

As Lush fanatics, we headed to the 3-floor Lush on Oxford Street, where I picked up some of the Christmas range (EXPECT A LUSH CHRISTMAS RANGE BLOGPOST SOON...).

We also explored around Carnaby Street, where we looked in a few shops, and when we came outside, it was snowing slightly which added to the festiveness of London!

For dinner, we went to Yo Sushi in Selfridges (who knew there was a Yo Sushi in Selfridges? They even did “Yo Sushi Afternoon Tea” - only in Selfridges...). I am totally obsessed with the Pumpkin Katsu Curry, we also got some Cucumber Maki - because YES. The exterior (and interior for that matter) looked so festive and pretty, with lights like a little label “With Love” on the front side of the building, and a lit “From” sign on the side of the building.

Then, as the night drew in, and it got darker, we headed to Hyde Park for Winter Wonderland for more festive fun. I was nice and wrapped up so it wasn’t as cold as I had anticipated (luckily). The decorations were so nice - instantly putting you in the festive mood, and you walked around to the sound of classic Christmas music (obviously). Smells of cinnamon and hotdogs filled the air, with copious stalls selling warming foods and delicious drinks. As we were wandering, we saw someone with these delicious-looking potato slices on a tall stick, and stupidly we didn’t ask where they got them from, so we continued to wander looking for them, but to no avail.

We stopped off for some hot chocolate and to sit down after a long day of walking around and getting overly-excited for lights and baubles. We did plan to go into The Magical Ice Kingdom or the Ice Fun House but it was so busy and as it was peak time (yes, a Sunday night is apparently peak time), it was quite expensive for all three of us, so we were quite content walking around, enjoying the sights - and hearing the screams of everyone on the ridiculously high rides.
